Prayer for Pastors (2)
I exhort therefore, that, first of all, applications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men; for kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty.1
Father, in the name of Jesus, we pray and confess that the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Pastor __________; the Spirit of Wisdom and Understanding; the Spirit of Counsel and Might; the Spirit of Knowledge and of the fear of the Lord.2
We pray that as Your Spirit rests upon Pastor __________ it will make him/her of quick understanding,3 Lord, You have anointed and qualified Pastor __________ to preach the Gospel to the meek, the poor, the wealthy, and the afflicted.
You have sent Pastor __________ to bind up and heal the broken-hearted, to proclaim liberty to the physical and spiritual captives, the opening of the eyes, and the opening of the prisons for those who are bound; to set at liberty them that are bruised, and to preach the acceptable year of the Lord.4 Pastor __________ shall be called the priest of the Lord … People will speak of him/her as a minister of God and he shall eat the wealth of the nations and the glory shall be the Lord’s.5
We pray and believe that no weapon which is formed against Pastor __________ shall prosper and that any tongue that rises against him/her in judgement shall be shown to be in the wrong.6 We pray that You prosper Pastor __________ abundantly, Lord —spiritually, physically, and financially.
Lord, we pray and believe that every day and in every service, freedom of utterance may be given to Pastor __________.7 That Pastor __________ may open his/her mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the Gospel, that he/she may speak boldly, as he/she ought to do, to get the Gospel to the people. 8Thank You, Lord, that You have chosen Pastor __________ and have ordained him/her, that he/she should bear much fruit.9 Thank you, Lord, for the added strength which comes supernaturally, that You have given him/her.
We hereby confess that we shall stand by Pastor __________ to undergird him/her in prayer. We will say only good things that will edify our pastor. We will not allow ourselves to be yielded to a critical spirit but will continue to pray for him/her and speak good about and upon him, as is fitting in the Lord. Thank You, dear Lord Jesus, for Your love for Your shepherd. Now I believe Your eyes are over the righteous, and Your ears are open to our prayers!10

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him,
The Spirit of wisdom and understanding,
The Spirit of counsel and might,
The Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. —Isaiah 11:2
“The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me,
Because the Lord has anointed Me
To preach good tidings to the poor;
He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
To proclaim liberty to the captives,
